IPL Photofacial and IPL Photorejuvenation is essentially the same thing. The IPL letters stand for Intense Pulsed Light, which is the essence of the treatment. Performed by professionals with state-of-the-art equipment at a reputable skin care clinic in Toronto, IPL has proven itself in erasing milder sun damage, irregular skin pigmentation, lighter brown spots, and even freckles.
IPL Photofacial offers visible improvements for those who don’t want intensive resurfacing treatment. Importantly, it’s best to have treatment from a reliable and reputable technician at a local skin care clinic in Toronto. And while results vary with skin type, a number of skin conditions can be successfully treated:
IPL Photofacial treats a specific area of the skin with quick, powerful flashes of light. The light energy penetrates into the surface of the skin, right where brown skin pigment exists. The heat energy actually breaks down the brown pigments, which either surface as mild scabs, or will be carried away naturally through the lymphatic system and exfoliation.
At IGBeauty Studio, we use the Lumenis® M22™ photorejuvenation technology. This advanced IPL Photofacial technology offers excellent outcomes for a wide range of skin conditions. Used by professionals around the world, the M22™ technology gently and effectively improves the overall appearance of the skin. And with the Optimal Pulse Technology (OPT™), treatments can be customized according to skin type and condition.
With IPL Photofacial technology, each treatment removes imperfections, while stimulating natural skin collagen and elastic fibre production. Although a series of treatments is highly recommended, some clients actually see great results in as little as 1-2 treatments. In fact, the clinicians at IGBeauty Studio have experienced excellent results with a host of skin concerns:
At IGBeauty, we offer two highly effective laser treatments for acne, both of which target different areas of concern to improve complexion and boost confidence. Both laser acne treatments generate long-lasting and visible results when done at our reputable skin care clinic by trained specialists.
The fractional laser acne treatment uses the leading ResurFX laser technology to target atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, skin damage, collagen loss, and the appearance of pores.
The Lumenis IPL Photofacial is a laser acne treatment which uses intense light to eliminate acne-triggering bacteria within the pores, while also reducing skin discolouration/hyperpigmentation.
Together, the two treatments innovatively rejuvenative skin, enhancing complexion and texture, for healthy, youthful, and beautiful looking skin.
At IGBeauty Studio, we make every effort to provide a safe, healthy treatment environment. We ensure that clients are comfortable, and professionally treated during every clinic visit.
Photofacial treatments last between 40-60 minutes and are gentle on the skin, without any discomfort. Following treatment, there could be some skin redness, depending on the specific treatment protocol. But in most cases, beauty makeup can be applied immediately. There is no downtime with photofacial treatments - daily routine and activities can continue unhindered.

learn moreFor optimum results, multiple IPLTM photofacial treatments are required. This is especially true when trying to remedy several problems. For example, to improve skin tone and texture, while reducing redness, multiple IPLTM treatments would be needed to treat various layers of skin. The skin care specialist will recommend the number of IPLTM treatments needed to achieve personal cosmetic goals. For many clients, noticeable results are achieved even after the first clinic session, however, the skin care team at IGBeauty recommends 3 - 5 sessions in total (one month apart).
After an IPLTM treatment, it’s recommended to avoid direct sun exposure and wear SPF 25 (or greater) for at least 2 weeks after treatment. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) can provide excellent results for a year or even more - but it’s essential to protect the skin for the first few weeks after a treatment. With IPL™ Photofacial treatment, there is no downtime and no real recover period. There may be some redness around the treatment area, and makeup can be applied immediately after treatment. Most clients return to regular activity immediately after an IPL™ treatment.
IPLTM photofacial treatments (also known as photo-rejuvenation) entail little discomfort and no downtime. Unlike other laser techniques, IPLTM is non-ablative - meaning that no skin is removed during the treatment. This simply contributes to easy recovery time and low risk, which allows patients to return to daily routine immediately. However, like any medical treatment, clients should be aware of the risks. In some cases, there is skin bruising, blistering, and scabbing, even though these side effects are short lived, disappear quickly. Nevertheless, better safe than sorry.
